Lets get down and dirty with some Zerg micro!
They have some amazing micro techniques and I am going to share with you some of my favorites.
First of all though, lets look at my top tips for general micro. These are tips which I use whatever game I am playing and they help me to improve at any game I play. I have not known a game where these do not fit in somewhere.

Basic Zerg Micro
- Never get suprised by your enemy.
- Always scout and have knowledge of what is going to be sent your way.
- Gain the advantage with suprise tactics.
- Win every battle, do not fight if you are not going to win.
- Pick off enemy units in smaller groups.
Those are the Basic Zerg Micro techniques and they can be used for any race and for most strategy games. They are valuable when concentrating and focusing on all the aspects of the game, if you keep these in mind then you will start to see your league rank improve.
Although the Basic Zerg Micro techniques are excellent, the advanced techniques are even more interesting.
They can be very tricky to pull off especially in certain situations, for example if you are playing another Zerg player they potentially have some of your tricks up their sleeves ready to use against you and on the reverse this will make them aware of the strategies you will be using against them.
Advanced Zerg Micro Techniques
Burrowed Roaches
This technique relies on a couple of things, one that you have the burrow ability and two that the enemy has little detectors, because you can get roaches very fast, usually it is going to be very difficult for the enemy to be able to permanently detect your roaches.
Ok so here is the technique, use your roaches to pop off enemies one by one, attack your enemy and when they counter attack, burrow your roaches then pop back up killing one unit, then burrow them again, this is extremely frustrating for your enemy but if it works, use it.
Roaches regenerate health very quickly so they heal up whilst burrowed then just rinse and repeat for some extreme results.
How Many Mutalisks?
This is a master of deception strategy which means your enemy will not know wether to attack or not and even if they decide to attack they will not know if they are going to win.
The trick is to keep your mutalisks constantly on the move and never let them stop moving, it will bunch up the mutalisks which means your enemy can not see how many you have, this is dangerous for two reasons. One reason is that they do not know if you have enough to burn through their whole army so will not attack immediately. The second reason is that if you do not have many mutalisks you can scare them away from your base because of the uncertainty they have in your attack force.
