Per Minute or APM!

Now the important thing to remember is that the reason you want to increase your APM is so that you can perform necessary actions and build a solid economy whilst executing excellent micro.
The Importance of APM comes down to the fact that it is the Actions you perform on average per minute.. Of course useless clicking is pointless, so make sure you are playing the game faster by performing more actions per minute..

Lets start off by looking at the actions you would like to be doing per minute, doing this will allow you to see where you can increase your current APM.
- Building SCVs/Drones/Probes
- Building Buildings
- Micro-ing Your Army
- Building More Army
- Scouting The Map
- Harassing The Enemy
- Teching/Researching
- Communicating With Your Team
- Expanding Your Base
Let’s be brutally honest
Ok having looked at these actions, how many of these do you currently get done with in one minute?
Constantly performing each action is difficult especially for 6 seconds, are you able to? 6 Seconds?
Keeping a good economy going can be difficult, but don’t worry you just need to think about the long term and use the article to help build your APM.
Top Tips for increasing APM
- Learn all of the hotkeys instinctively.
- Use the hotkeys, I mean actually use them..
- Keeping a constant eye on macro and micro will help..
- One of the best ways to get an advantange is to use countering control groups..
- Build Workers Constantly.
- Make your mouse fast by increasing the DPI.
- Always use a gaming keyboard.
After playing check your replays this will help you keep tabs on your APM.
The tips here are to help you increase your APM to a high standard of play, this helps you rely on hotkeys a lot more than you would of previously.

Use the mini-map!
It is built to be used. I like to use the mini map a lot because it gives you warning if your enemy inside your view quicker than you would be able to by skimming the map for clues.
