Starcraft 2 How To
Protoss Guide

Hey Jim Here Again…

Today I am going to cover some very basic skills required to play Protoss. Although these skills are basic they are fundamental as well. Once you have the fundamentals down then its time to move onto the more advanced skills.

This article is essentially going to help you obtain a building block to be able to launch yourself into SC2 as Protoss.

The way I go about this mini guide is to provide you with 2 or 3 excellent strategies to try out yourself and learn from. So lets get started and see if we can get you out of the bronze league!

Zealots, Zealots, Zealots

This is a fairly standard build and it keeps you safe for a fair amount of time. It can also be difficult to counter because you need to be able to scout effectively to see it coming. The trick to pulling this tactic off is to be fast and build Zealots. The Zealots are tough and can be devastating against the enemy

Quick Void Rays

This tactic can be difficult to master as it requires a lot of judgement on your part. Knowing wether to continue with the build or not is the most difficult part of the build. You need to remember not to continue with the build if they have scouted well or if they have a lot of anti air units in their build. The trick is to get your void rays out as quickly as possible then use the lack of anti air to defeat your enemies base.

Stalkers, Sentries and Zealots oh my!

This is a tactic used by a lot of players, you build your gateway units and get yourself a sentry. Once you have a mini attack force of about 3 zealots, sentry and 2 stalkers then you attack your enemy harassing them. Keep your enemy at bay until you can tech up and win the match.

There is a lot of strategies available for Protoss they are a fun race to play. Due to the fact that they warp in their buildings they feel very fast to play and can rebuild their base very quickly. Try to counter your enemy constantly whilst teching up in the background. Once Protoss are teched up fully they can be very difficult to beat especially if they are using Carriers and a Mothership.

Remember to always be thinking and reacting to your enemy. Reacting to the enemy is the most important skill to have when playing SC2.

I hope you enjoyed this quick protoss guide. If you have any suggestions or would like me to change the article slightly then join in the discussion below.
